While both are incredibly beneficial for our environment, deciding which one to use should be solely based circumstantially on your living conditions and the source which will be more useful for you. Solar power and wind power have both gained a great deal of publicity with the recent increase in gas prices, people are sick of soaring electricity bills when it is much more simple to create your own electricity.

Wind energy is most beneficial in areas with a lot of wind, more towards the center of the country where as solar energy can be used anywhere. So depending on your location and the geography of the place in which you live one will overpower the other. Many people prefer wind power because the generator is something that can simply be built and used rather than purchasing expensive panels which can be much more complex. Wind power can also be tricky, with wind power you are given the worry about what happens when there isn’t any wind and you become victim to a weak power supply? Which is one of the reasons in most city living settings, people prefer solar power. While wind power is an easy to construct, simple way of powering your home, solar power can be more convenient. So another big question is which is more important, convenience or level of complexity?

Solar powered energy comes from the sun and is managed by panels. These panels do not move, or make noise as they soak up the rays from the sun to create energy. Some people prefer the Solar Power energy because it is less obvious and doesn’t require a towering structure or create any noise or visual obstruction that the neighbors would be bothered by. It is also much simpler to get by the city government and requires a lot less monitoring to get the power you need. If the average wind speed in your area is less than five meters per second, solar power is the much more cost efficient way to go and can provide more stability for you and your home and is less often damaged by environmental changes like rain storms or wind damage. Whereas the wind power generator can experience damage in certain environmental situations that happen often in most places. Solar panels can also be placed on the roof, which means they don’t have to take up space on your property that poses any inconvenience.

For most, solar power energy is the way to go; however both choices should be fully researched and considered when choosing to go for an alternative energy source to power your household or even business. Both have key benefits as well as disadvantages and the decision must be based entirely on what is best for each individual person.
